Bridges for Youth was established in Adams County in the mid 1970's. It is a private, not for profit delinquency prevention/intervention agency, which contracts with Adams County Department of Social Services. The agency provides one on one counseling with individual clients in addition to family counseling, home detention services, independent living skills training, social/recreational skill building,and educational enrichment. In addition, Bridges For Youth works closely with the Adams Friendship Area Schools to provide tutoring for youth who are removed from the traditional classroom setting for behavorial reasons. The ultimate goal of the program is the remediation of delinquent and undesirable behaviors that inhibit the healthy growth and development of the community's more challenged youth.
